Agentic AI Conquers Advertising — Magnite's Buyer Agent Goes Live With Disney

The $700 billion global digital advertising industry has received its most disruptive AI deployment yet. Magnite has launched its "buyer agent" — a fully autonomous AI system that executes programmatic advertising buys, optimises ad placement in real time, and manages complex media negotiations without human intervention. First major deployments include Disney Advertising, Kepler, and MiQ. Agentic AI has crossed from enterprise software into the commercial media economy.
Ghana's advertising industry — estimated at over GH₵1.5 billion annually — is still predominantly manual, relationship-driven, and operating through fragmented agency structures dependent on human negotiation. When programmatic agentic AI reaches the African market — which is already happening at supply-side level through Meta and Google — Ghanaian media agencies that have not adopted AInative workflows will be bypassed entirely by automated buying systems that extract margin without human mediation.
