Social media platforms went into a frenzy on Tuesday after an X (formerly Twitter) user, @Heismikel1, alleged that the actor’s eldest son had confirmed his death. However, checks by BBC News Pidgin and The Source News GH have confirmed these claims are entirely false.
"Alive and Well" Linc Edochie, the actor's son and a filmmaker, wasted no time in shutting down the speculation. "My papa still dey alive and well," Linc stated, reassuring fans across the continent that the "Ebubedike" of Nollywood is in good health.

The Business of Fake News This is not the first time the 78-year-old icon has been the victim of a death hoax. He joins a list of celebrated figures like Olu Jacobs and King Sunny Ade who have frequently been targeted by engagement-seeking accounts.
According to social media expert Oluwatobiloba Oluwatoyin, these rumors are often fueled by "banger boys"—creators looking to game the X monetization algorithm. By posting shocking claims that trigger replies and corrections, these accounts generate traffic and revenue, regardless of the truth.
