With the 2026 World Cup essentially 60 days away, global outfitter Nike is facing a major PR disaster. Teams wearing Nike's highly anticipated, ultra-engineered new tournament jerseys are reporting "strange seam behaviors"—with kits visibly tearing and losing structural integrity at the shoulders during international friendlies.


This exposes the inherent danger of prioritizing marketing aesthetics over functional pragmatism. PUMA, the official outfitter of the Black Stars, must be heavily scrutinized. The GFA's technical team often views kit contracts purely as financial and fashion assets, ignoring the fact that poorly engineered, heat-trapping equipment in an aggressive North American summer will measurably decrease athletic performance.
