Putting Children First — Indonesia Rewrites the Rules on Online Child Protection

Indonesia is flexing its diplomatic and domestic muscle simultaneously. On the global stage, Jakarta announced preparations to deploy peacekeepers to Gaza. Domestically, they passed sweeping new regulations designed to protect children online, forcing tech giants to fundamentally alter their algorithms and data collection practices when dealing with minors.


Ghanaian youth are heavily exposed to unregulated social media, cyberbullying, and inappropriate content. The government's digital initiatives have largely focused on infrastructure rather than stringent digital welfare and algorithmic regulation. Indonesia's bold move provides a ready-made blueprint for Accra.
