The University Degree is losing its monopoly on success.
The Trend: Across the UK, the US, and Germany, a massive shift is occurring. AI is automating entry-level white-collar jobs (data entry, basic coding, copywriting). But AI cannot unclog a toilet, wire a house, or fix a solar panel. As a result, wages for skilled tradespeople are skyrocketing while office junior wages stagnate. Ideally, "Blue Collar" is becoming "Gold Collar."
THE GHANA ANGLE: REBRANDING TVET
Ghanaian parents need to read the room. Pushing every child toward a generic "Humanities" degree is setting them up for unemployment. The global market is screaming for Welders, Electricians, and Plumbers.
We need to destigmatize vocational training. A certified specialized welder at the Takoradi port earns more than most bank tellers. Success in 2026 looks like a toolbelt, not a tie.
