Following our March 1st report on the US/Israeli strikes that killed Iran's Supreme Leader, the theater of war is violently expanding. Iran’s retaliation strategy is no longer confined to Israeli borders. Over the past 48 hours, missile and drone strikes have reportedly targeted US and allied infrastructure deep within the Gulf, including attacks perilously close to the US Consulate in Dubai and the embassy in Riyadh. President Trump’s administration has vowed to double down on the conflict, while the UN warns of a total collapse of regional security.
The strikes near Dubai represent a terrifying escalation for Ghana. The UAE is a primary trade hub for Ghanaian import-export businesses, a massive destination for Ghanaian diaspora workers, and a key transit point for global flights. If the conflict successfully destabilizes the Gulf safe havens like Dubai, the economic shockwaves hitting Accra will multiply instantly. Aviation fuel costs will skyrocket further, and remittances from the Gulf will be severely threatened.
