US-Iran Ceasefire Deal Stalls Over Trump Decision as Israel Escalates in Lebanon

Negotiations for a U.S.-Iran ceasefire MOU have stalled in Washington pending approval from President Trump for a 60-day extension. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israeli forces have pushed north of Lebanon's Litani River, intensifying military operations against Hezbollah.
The stalling of the ceasefire and the widening escalation in Lebanon mean that global shipping and energy markets will remain in a state of high friction. For Ghana, the prospect of prolonged Middle East volatility means Brent crude will remain high, making fuel imports expensive and putting persistent pressure on domestic inflation. The government must treat alternative fuel strategies—such as compressed natural gas (CNG) public transit conversions—as urgent security matters, not long-term environmental plans.
